A crowd arrived Friday at the Espresso Shop to hear Tami Gosnell, Jareb Liewer, Brandon Raby and friends perform.

The audience stayed all the way to the end of the three-hour acoustic show, listening to their homegrown musicians who have moved up to bigger locations.

Brandon Raby and Steve Barger started the show with gypsy jazz instrumental favorites, showing why they are regarded among the best gypsy jazz players in Nebraska.

Jareb Liewer played for 30 minutes, holding the audience rapt with strong, soaring vocals and fine guitar. Liewer was once in the top 50 of American Idol.

Then Tami Gosnell, another top competitor on American Idol, took the stage, mesmerizing with stirring vocals, guitar, keyboard and bass.

Tami’s cousin Tom Gosnell joined Tami for original songs, including a spell-binding cover of the Eagles’ Take It To The Limit near the end of the show.

Liewer and Tami Gosnell are now professional musicians based in California.

Outdoors tonight

Tonight (Saturday), the music moves out on the street downtown at Fifth and Dewey.

The rock band the Wondercult will join the lineup of performers.

Tom Gosnell will lead the band Simple Story, which formed in the late 1990s and quickly developed into a dynamic band in the North Platte area, noted for accurate covers and riveting original songs.

Simple Story recorded a highly-regarded CD as well as an EP in the early 2000s before life took them in different directions. Look for them on CD Baby.

Saturday night's outdoor show on the bricks includes children's games from 6:30 - dusk, with food and craft beer.

Rock music starts around 8 p.m. and lasts until midnight. You might want to bring canvas camp chairs. Admission is $5.

Eclipse viewing glasses will be sold. The vendors are Early Bird and Second Mouse, Ricky’s Gyros, Hot dogs by Jack Raby and Brody Lienemann, as well as food and drinks from Leu-Leu’s Fro Yos and burgers and brats by Mallory’s.

Entrances are on the north and south ends of Dewey St.

IDs are required for beer consumption.

Bring your camp chairs.

The lineup:

6:30-8 p.m. – Tami Gosnell, Jareb Liewer.

8 - The WonderCult (rock)

9 – Simple Story (rock)

9:45 - Jareb Liewer
