On Aug. 8, three lucky tickets were drawn for the annual raffle to benefit the Ready to Serve Volunteer Program.

Owen Schmoldt was the lucky winner of two tickets to the Nov. 4 Nebraska football game against Northwestern as well as $100 spending money.

The second ticket drawn was for a beautiful queen-size quilt with a “Prairie Flowers” pattern made by Barbara Oltmanns.

Diana Wallace won the quilt.

The Flying Needles Quilt Group hand-quilted it and Marcia Rogers bound it. Each person who worked on the quilt put love, time, and passion into it.

The third ticket was for two Nebraska Huskers stadium cushions. The lucky winner is Deavon Wilson. The cushions were donated by Big Red Etc./The Sports Shoppe.

RSVP thanks the community for supporting the quilt raffle, with special thanks to Gary’s Super Foods, Shopko, Ace Hardware and the Do It Center for allowing a raffle ticket booth every week since May. Thanks also goes to the RSVP Volunteers who staffed the booths and everyone who purchased a ticket.

Also, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2839, The North Platte Advisory Council, Barb Oltmanns and Big Red Etc./The Sport Shoppe donated the items for the raffle.

The money raised will be used to buy two books to be donated to each elementary and preschool student in the North Platte Public Schools District, Saint Patrick’s Catholic School, Our Redeemer Lutheran School and three Head Start sites.

Last year, RSVP donated more than 5,400 books.
