Brookfield, Conn. scored two runs in the fifth inning to go ahead of the 12-and-under North Platte All-Stars on Saturday night to win 4-3 in the Cal Ripken Baseball World Series in Branson, Mo.

After going 0-3 in pool play, North Platte begins tournament play and they play the winner of Minot, N.D. and Mountain Home, Ark. on Sunday.

The player of the game for North Platte was Easton Messersmith, who had two hits and a run batted in. Messersmith also made three spectacular plays defensively at third base. Blaise Zeiler also pitched a strong first four innings for the All-Stars.
