The Lincoln County Commissioners approved a contract Monday for a new website for the North Platte and Lincoln County Visitor’s Bureau.Hollman Media of Kearney got the bid for $15,800.
Construction of the new site is expected to begin this fall, with the site up and running by March or April, Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director Lisa Burke said after the meeting. She said the project will not begin until after the solar eclipse Aug. 21, which is the primary focus of the visitor’s bureau now.
Burke said three bids were submitted. At first, the staff was inclined to select Maly Marketing, who designed the existing website. However, she said a closer look at the bids revealed the true costs.
Burke told the commissioners she developed a score sheet and then scored the bids with the help of two members of the bureau’s board of directors.
After a “lengthy, aggressive discussion,” the best offer became clear in terms of cost, technical resources and skill level, she said.
Burke said one of the board members who scored the applications has experience in website development.
Maly, who designed the current website, submitted a bid of $21,890. A company named Simple View, with 10 offices in the U.S., bid $41,000 to do the work.
“If you’re happy, I’m happy,” Commissioner Chairman Bill Henry told Burke. “I saw your score sheet.”
The board voted unanimously to accept the bid.
Burke said she will work with Deputy County Attorney Joe Wright to draw up a contract with Hollman and present it to the board.
