After 33 years in North Platte, we have now lived in Grand Island five months.Yes, Grand Island does have more shopping choices and a little easier access for travel.
The State Fair is here, but we pay for it with a food and beverage tax, and we find that accessing various locations is more difficult.
North Platte has:
• Easier access to medical care
• The Golden Spike Tower
• The Bluegrass Festival
• Nebraskaland Days
• Less railroad noise and fewer crossings to wait for trains, surprisingly.
• An independent newspaper (The Bulletin.)
Also, North Platte does not have hard-as-rock clay soil under a few inches of good soil.
We enjoy living in Grand Island, but we also enjoyed our years in North Platte where we still have many friends.
