Golf: Bulldogs win district championshipTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte High School boys' golf team won the district championship on Monday at the Lake Maloney Golf Course.

The Bulldogs had a team score of 304 to get first place by 11 strokes over runner-up Grand Island. Omaha Westside finished in third place with 335.

NPHS was led by Kort Steele's score of 72 which was good enough for second place behind GI's Reece Rhodes. Rhodes also finished the course with a 72 but he defeated Steele in the playoff to win the individual district title.

Four of the five golfers for North Platte medaled. Behind Steele, Kyle Zimbelman and Kade Wroot finished fourth and fifth respectively. Zimbelman had a score of 75 and Wroot a 78. Jayden Jones finished eighth with a 79.

Chesney Tatman was the fifth Bulldog golfer with an 82, but like his teammates, he will also be golfing at the state meet, which is on May 23 and 24 in Norfolk, as part of the district championship team.
