Hershey, St. Pat’s and Sutherland will send 32 athletes to the state track meet in Omaha.

The three schools competed in the C-10 District track meet Thursday at Hershey against Amherst, Cambridge, Overton, Southern Valley and Southwest. Competitors needed to finish first or second in individual events, and wins in the relays, to qualify for state.

The Irish boys compiled 156 points to win the district team championship and Hershey finished second with 84.

Cambridge scored 152 to win the district for the Lady Trojans. St. Pat’s was runner up with 105.

Nine boys qualified for St. Pat’s, with several grabbing a spot in multiple events.

James Schroll won the 100 and 200. Garrett Foust took the gold in the 400 and placed second in the 300 hurdles. Chase Ochs was the 800 champ and runner up in the 400, Gary White III won the 110 hurdles, Lane Knisley finished second in the 100, Jaydn Brown, second in long jump and Ethan Munsen, second in the high jump.

In addition, the 4x100 relay team of Knisley, Jacob Swift, Schroll and White III won to punch their ticket and Foust, Ochs, Schroll and Gabe Vyzourek followed suit with a win in the 4x400.

Hershey finished with six qualifiers. Eli Huebner won the 3200 and finished second in the 1600. Kyler Banks was the pole vault champion, Jason Davis the shot-put champ. McKade Smith was first in the 300 hurdles and Monte McNeil was second in the 800.

And, the Panther’s Huebner, McNeil, Smith and Dalton Ebmeier teamed up to win the 4x800.

For Sutherland, three boys qualified. Garrett Elfeldt was second in pole vault. Blake Scott finished third but made the required height for an automatic bid. Jade Paxton was second in the 3200.


Girls

The Lady Irish will send eight to state. Kaleigh Kummer took the 300 hurdles gold, Amanda McClellen the pole vault and Rebecca Pasquinelly won the discus. Allie Montgomery was runner-up in the high jump and Gracie Rippen, second in pole vault.

Keeping pace with the boys, St. Pat’s won both the 4x100 and 4x400. Jordyn Childears and Haley Homan joined Kummer and McClellen in the 4x100 and Maddie Kleewein, along with Homan, Kummer and Rippen, took the 4x400.

For Sutherland, Bailee Fear was first in the 100. Morgan Burke was second in the 3200. Danielle McNeel was second in the discus and Haeven Schuster, second in the 200.

Ashley Hassett and Bailie Vanarsdall will represent the Lady Panthers at state. Hassett won the 100 hurdles and finished second in the 300 hurdles. Vanarsdall won the 3200 and was second in the 1600.

The state meet will be May 18-19 at Burke High School in Omaha.
