Nebraska’s First Governor: Presentation set at LibraryTell North Platte what you think

"David Christy Butler: Nebraska’s First Governor” will be presented by Jim Griffin at the next Celebrate Nebraska 150 program at the North Platte Public Library at noon on Friday, May 5.

Gov. Butler became Nebraska’s first governor, serving from 1867-71. He was also the first and only Nebraska governor to be impeached.

We would think that impeachment would have ended his political career, but it didn’t. Learn more about his life, rise to power and downfall in this presentation by Lincoln County Historical Museum curator, Jim Griffin.

Please call the library at 535-8036, Ext. 3310, to make seat reservations, which helps the staff in their preparations. There is no charge to attend.
