On Sunday, May 21, Paws-itive Partners will host their second Pedal for Paws bike ride to benefit animals in the Lincoln County area.

Pedal for Paws is a ride for cyclists of all levels, with a special emphasis on non-competitive and recreational riders, as well as entire families.

The sign-in begins at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot east of North Platte Rec Center. The ride starts promptly at 9 a.m. and proceeds on a marked route to The Golden Spike Tower and returns to the Rec Center (8.5 miles.)

This is the same route as last year. For cyclists who requested a slightly longer ride, there will be a different return route from the Spike to the Rec Center (10 miles.)

There will be water, flavored tea and snack bars at the turn-around as well as at the Rec Center parking lot.

North Platte Public Transit is providing a SAG bus for tired riders or flat tires.

The Pedal for Paws registration is $5 for each rider. Event tee-shirts are available by ordering up to May 4. This year’s shirts are cobalt blue with an orange design on the front. Shirts can be pre-ordered for $13 each in any size.

Riders are encouraged to seek donations from friends, coworkers and family to donate to Paws-itive Partners.

Special recognition will be given to bike riders, under age 18 and over 18, collecting the most donations, as well as to the oldest and youngest rider.

Adams Bank and Trust is donating prizes and is a co-sponsor. Any rider collecting $60 or more in donations receives their Pedal for Paws tee-shirt free.

All Pedal for Paws proceeds go directly to help spay and neuter cats and dogs belonging to lower income pet owners.

Registration forms are available in North Platte at Alive Outside, White Tail Cycle Sport and North Platte Rec Center.

To have a registration form mailed to you, leave a message at 308-532-8814.

Return registration forms and tee-shirt orders to: Paws-itive Partners, P. O. Box 1145, North Platte, NE 69103.
