At the library: Home Improvement 101: All About Trees Tell North Platte what you think

Rachel Allison of the Nebraska Forest Service is this month’s speaker at the North Platte Public Library’s Home Improvement 101 series at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 in the meeting room.

This free, one-hour program gives people the chance to learn about something related to homes and ask questions from a local expert.

Rachel will briefly cover selection and planting of a tree and then take some more time on early care and maintenance (watering, staking & pruning) of the tree.

While some basic needs may seem simple, unfortunately many lawn practices can compromise the health of a newly planted tree. It is important to see the tree as a living plant in the lawn that will grow and has needs for its roots system as well as the trunk and crown.

No reservations are needed; just show up.

Past attendees have enjoyed learning about paint, plumbing and power tools since the program began in January.
