The Greater Nebraska Swim Team recently qualified for the state championship swim meet.

The team competed March 17-19 in both individual and relay events at the Midwestern Swimming Championship at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln.

In addition, Cooper Leibhart ended the season in the Top 8 in the 100 backstroke in the boys 9-10 year-old division.

The Greater Nebraska Swim Team is a club team in the USA Swimming organization. This particular team is coach owned and operated,  Coach Heffernan said.

The North Platte roster is comprised of athletes primarily from North Platte however; sometimes there are swimmers from the surrounding area. The Greater Nebraska Swim Team has several satellite locations including Lincoln, Hastings, Kearney, Valentine and North Platte, which practice and have their own coaches and come together and compete as one team at meets.

Currently the youngest swimmer is 6 and the oldest is 19, Heffernan said.
