Soccer: Lady Dawgs shutout Lincoln HighTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte High School girls' soccer team scored two goals in each half on Saturday for a 4-0 win against Lincoln High at Madison Middle School.

"The girls played with a lot of heart," NPHS coach Sarah Kaminski said. "The movement and passing wasn't there today. But the one thing I want to commend them for is that they were playing for themselves and each other."

The Lady Bulldogs (3-0) scored their first goal 15 minutes into the game when Callie Haneborg came up with the ball in a scrum right in front of the net and put it in.

It then became 2-0 with nine minutes left in the first half when a cross by Mei Hou from the left side landed in the side of the net.

North Platte ended the game with momentum by scoring both of their second half goals in the last 20 minutes. With 16 minutes left, Kyilee Elsten set up Sami Mauch for a shot from within to make it 3-0. Then with eight minutes remaining, Elsten crossed the ball to Jordan Sligar for another goal to close it out.

"We were creating shots," Kaminski said. "It doesn't take just one girl to do it but it's built from a series of passes. We continued to play with a lot of effort and heart."
