The North Platte High School boys' soccer team showed no signs of letting up on Saturday as they scored four second half goals in a 6-0 win over Lincoln High at Madison Middle School.NPHS (3-0) got on the board in the 14th minute when Ryan LeTourneau beat goalie Alex Leija on a penalty kick that was awarded after Lincoln High (0-5) was called for a handball in the goal box.
Then six minutes later, Josh Cauffman scored to make it 2-0, which was where it stood at halftime a little over 20 minutes later.
"It took us a while to adjust to how Lincoln High was playing," North Platte coach Danny Whitney said. "We took advantage of the space they were giving us and we had a solid first half."
Like in the first half, it took the Dawgs a while to score in the second half. With 24 minutes left in the game, LeTourneau scored his second goal.
After that, North Platte blew it open. Dominic Martinez scored a couple minutes later when he received a pass from LeTourneau and he snuck it past Leija, who was in front of the box, with a shot that never left the ground to make it 4-0.
LeTourneau clinched his second straight hat trick with a goal with 14 minutes left and then he capped it off with two minutes left with another.
"At halftime, we talked about ways we could take advantage of the space they were giving us," Whitney said. "We had some long freeballs that we started connecting on in the second half and we found the net."
