Two suspected drug dealers from Scottsbluff were arrested Wednesday at a North Platte motel.

According to the police report, a North Platte police officer on patrol was checking the motel parking lot when he found a suspicious license plate. He checked the plate number and discovered the registered owner, Quirt James Orsborn, was wanted for misdemeanors in Scotts Bluff County.

Police checked Orsborn's motel room and took him into custody for the outstanding warrants, police spokesman John Deal said.

Also, a woman, Valeria Thorpe was in the room too. Thorpe is wanted in Scottsbluff County for attempted distribution of methamphetamine, a felony.

Deal said a check of their criminal histories showed both Orsborn, 40, and Thorpe, 31, have prior arrests for drug related offenses, .

A drug detection dog was summoned from the Nebraska State Patrol. Deal said it indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle. When the car was searched, police found “several grams of suspected methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms."

Deal said distribution paraphernalia was also found in the car.

Orsborn was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of psilocybin. According to sheriff’s records, he is additionally charged with distribution of both those substances, as well as cocaine.

Orsborn and Thorpe are in the Lincoln County jail. Orsborn’s bond is set at $250,000 and Thorpe is held without bond, according to sheriff’s records.
