Sheriff's deputies placed a man in protective custoday Friday after he threatened to shoot the first law officer he found at the Lincoln County courthouse.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's office said deputies were called to the courthouse around 8:30 a.m.. Employees there said a "very emotional" man threatened to harm or shoot the first law enforcement officer he found.

Deputies did not immediately locate the man and he left the building, the sheriff's office said.
