Woodhead leads a cheer with the Chargers, December 2015

Danny Woodhead will be on a new pro football team in the upcoming season.

The North Platte native has signed a three-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens after a four-year stint with the San Diego Chargers. It will be the fourth NFL team for Woodhead, who previously played for the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.

He will join a Ravens team that finished 8-8 last year. Their leading rusher last year was Terrance West, who had 774 yards on 193 carries. The other running backs are Kenneth Dixon, Javorius Allen and Lorenzo Taliaferro.

Woodhead's last season was cut short almost as soon as it started, when he tore a knee ligament in the second game of the year. If he has recovered, he should be a key player for the Ravens offense with his quickness, versatility and ability to catch passes out of the backfield.

The 5'8" running back is a fan favorite wherever he goes.

This season will be Woodhead's ninth in the NFL. He has a total of 2,182 yards rushing, 2,498 yards receiving and has scored a total of 32 touchdowns.
