Lancaster County fugitive turns up at North Platte motelTell North Platte what you think

Police found a woman wanted in Lincoln Monday evening after her companion passed out in their car at a North Platte motel.

Chrystal Lowe, 34, is now in the Lincoln County Jail, held without bond.

Police spokesman John Deal said at 6:52 p.m. Monday, an officer went to the Blue Spruce Motel at 821 S. Dewey to check out the report that a man was passed out in a vehicle.

The officer found a woman standing outside of the vehicle -- Chrystal Lowe, 34 -- who said she had been riding in the car with the man. When police checked her record, they found that she was wanted in Lancaster County.

Lowe had some luggage and a purse, which Deal said were searched. The search turned up a prescription pill of amphetamine / dextroamphetamine, a controlled substance, as well as a pill of lorazepam, another controlled substance. Deal said Lowe did not have prescriptions for the pills.

She was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances, being a fugitive from justice and taken to jail.

Meanwhile, while a police officer was dealing with Lowe, another officer was unable to wake the man up, so EMT’s were summoned to take him to the hospital, where it was determined he did not have a medical issue other than intoxication, Deal said.

The man said he was "Jason," but the investigating officer determined his real name was Austin Desiderio. There was no cause to hold Desiderio. He was released but cautioned not to drive. Deal said an officer called a family member, who was going to come get him, then left.

Desiderio turned up again that night. At 8:42 p.m., another officer was dispatched to a reported hit-and-run in the 700 block of S. Carr. The caller said a vehicle hit a tree in a yard and then drove away, Deal said.

Deal said police followed a trail of automotive fluid and caught the vehicle as it pulled into a driveway in the 2200 block of Cedarberry Lane. The driver said he was “Jason Desiderio.”

Desiderio was suspected of being intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test. It was also determined that Jason was a false name.

Desiderio was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving under suspension, driving under the influence and false reporting, and taken to jail. Bond was set at $5,000.

Lowe has a previous criminal record. She was arrested for illegal possession of prescription pills in 2014 and was in and out of jail for couple years, according to Lincoln County sheriff's records.
