Policeman Jeremiah Johnson has been named as the “Bulldog” staff member of February.Johnson is the resource officer for North Platte Public Schools.
He was nominated by Superintendent Ron Hanson and selected by the North Platte Public Schools Foundation in conjunction with the public schools.
His nomination said:
"Officer Jay is a leader who is a team player, who has the ability, skills, character and confidence to achieve the North Platte School District ideals while creating a positive climate in the schools, district and community.
"He understands the importance of providing a safe, caring and supportive learning environment in every school. Officer Jay is involved in planning, developing and implementing various school improvement initiatives such as SRP School Safety training, Dare to Go Five Below and the DARE Program."
The North Platte Public Schools and schools foundation developed the staff recognition promotion to provide incentives for teachers and support staff. The program recognizes outstanding teachers and support staff for their contributions. The nomination symbolizes the esteem and appreciation for school district employees, organizers said.
Teachers are rewarded with a gift basket, balloons and a gift card to the Bulldog store at NPHS. The North Platte Public Schools Foundation takes nominations from principals and administration.
Staff members will be awarded monthly throughout the school year and recognized at the end of the year at an Education After Hours get-together on April 7.
