Lady Dawgs upset top-ranked Omaha Skutt, win threeTell North Platte what you think

The North Platte Bulldogs softball team went 3-0 Saturday in the Lincoln Softball Classic.

Catcher Mikenzi Wiseman helped North Platte upset #1 ranked Omaha Skutt Catholic 4-1 in the first game of the day.

Wiseman went 2-3, sparking the Lady Dawgs to victory in seven innings.

Jenny Keck was a workhorse on the mound, while bagging the win for North Platte. Keck allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks while striking out one over seven innings.

North Platte went up for good in the first, scoring a run on an RBI single by Wiseman.

North Platte put up a run in each of the second, third, and fifth innings. In the second, North Platte scored on an error, plating Marissa Ramos.

In the second game, North Platte used a big second inning to beat Lincoln East, 10-3 in five innings after a six-run explosion in the second inning.

Willow Chitty went 2-2 at the plate for North Platte. She singled in the second and fourth innings.

Ramos recorded the win. She allowed three runs over five innings. She struck out four, walked one and surrendered seven hits.

Lincoln East take an early lead, 2-0, in the bottom of the first. North Platte added three runs in the top of the fourth. A double by Wiseman ignited the offense,, bringing home Chitty.

In the third game, Keck powered North Platte at the plate and in the circle, willing North Platte to a 9-6 victory over Milford.

Keck was 2-2 at the plate. She singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Milford's lineup had no answer for Keck, who came in to relieve starting pitcher Kaite Franzen. Keck held Milford hitless for 1 1/3 innings, allowing no earned runs and walking none.

Even though Franzen allowed six runs over 4 2/3 innings, she still recorded the victory. She struck out two, walked two, and surrendered seven hits.

North Platte didn't relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the first inning on a two-run double by Wiseman and an RBI single by Christina Yoshida.

North Platte scored four more runs in the top of the third. A clutch hit into a fielder's choice scored courtesy runner Abbey Jones to open the scoring in the frame.

Milford scored three runs in the bottom of the third to cut its deficit to four, but the Milford threat came to an end when Franzen finally got Milford to ground out.
