Viewers for the 50th Nebraskaland Days Parade are once again asked not to stake out their positions in Memorial Park until noon on Friday, June 14.

This is the second year that Nebraskaland Days and the city of North Platte have asked for the public’s cooperation on this policy.

“It basically allows our city to keep Memorial Park well maintained up until we invade it on Friday for the antique car parade,” said Nebraskaland Days Executive Director David Fudge. “It’s tough to mow around stakes and string. And we want the park looking its best for this year’s parade.”

This year’s parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. It marks the 50th running of the event, which was first held in downtown Lincoln in 1964.

Nebraskaland Days on parade will serve as the official kick off to preparations for the 50th annual Nebraskaland Days in North Platte, which is scheduled next year from June 18-28.

This year’s parade has around 140 entries, Fudge said. It will begin from the corner of Fourth and Bryan, proceed west on Fourth to Jeffers and then head north on Jeffers to 12th St.
