Evan Lamphear of North Platte High School and Chandler Tyan of Sutherland both finished third in the pole vault in their respective classes on Friday at the Nebraska State Track and Field meet.
Lamphear, a junior who broke NPHS' 42-year-old school record in the pole vault earlier this season at 15-feet, 2-inches, finished third in Class A at 14-8.
Brothers Steven and Kevin Cahoy of Grand Island were the champion and runner-up. Steven won his second straight Class A title at 16-feet to finish his career. Earlier this season, he set the Class A record with a vault of 16-3 1/4.
His younger brother, Kevin, a sophomore, was the runner-up at 15-4.
In Class D, Tyan finished third at 13-8 to finish his career. Brady Weinman of South Loup was first place 14-4. Dustin Axline of Exeter-Milligan was the runner-up by beating Tyan at 13-8.
