The North Platte Community College men’s basketball team’s Aboubacar Casse signed on Thursday with Franklin Pierce University located in Rindge, New Hampshire.
Aboubacar was a vital member of the Knights school record 30 wins and trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament. Casse started 20 games for the Knights including the final 15.
He averaged 5.8 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field. Casse had season highs with 21 points and 14 rebounds in the semifinals of the Region IX Tournament against Northeastern Junior College.
Casse will join a Franklin Pierce team that finished the year 24-9. The Ravens played in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Division II Tournament where they fell to eventual National Runner-Up Metro State University.
“Aboubacar was an excellent team player that was instrumental in helping turn our program around the last two seasons and sacrificed individual statistics for the success of our team,” said head coach Kevin O’Connor. “He represented our team and college at the highest level. I am quite sure he will help Franklin Pierce return to the NCAA Tournament and we wish him the best of luck.”
