Maxwell Volunteer Firefighters rushed to the Union Pacific tracks west of Maxwell at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to check on a locomotive on fire.

It appeared to be an oil fire, Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis said. By the time firefighters got to the scene, the blaze had mostly burned itself out.

One section of the locomotive was damaged. No one was injured.

Davis said the cause is still being investigated.
