Shirin Ebadi was the first Iranian and Muslim woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize (2003). Ebadi will speak Tuesday evening at a simulcast at the south campus theater of North Platte Community College. Ebadi argues for an interpretation of Islamic law that is in harmony with vital human rights, especially the rights of women, children and refugees. Her unique program will help the audience understand the importance of tolerance, perseverance, and belief in human rights for all, and she will share easy tools anyone can use to make a difference, organizer Molly O'Holleran said. The simulcast and community conversation will begin at 7 p.m. at the south campus McDonald-Belton theater, 601 W. State Farm Road.
