At the start of Scout week Feb. 3, the Buffalo Bill District held their annual awards banquet.
The Buffalo Bill district covers west central Nebraska from Valentine to Curtis and from Cozad to Ogallala.
District committee members were honored as well as key Cub Scout and Boy Scout leaders.
Awards were presented to supporter of the year NebraskaLand National Bank and District Awards of Merit were given to Dave Baltzell of Ogallala and William Mackley of North Platte.
Both men have helped scouting for many years and both have been leaders for more than a decade.
The Outstanding Eagle Scout award was given to Steve Van Boening for his years of service to the Eagle Scout program.
Twenty new Eagle Scouts were recognized – Caden Billings, Elliot Carlson, Joseph Godfrey, Brandon Hiserote, Simon Lindley, Ryan Louder, Nathan Luchsinger, Adam Mackley, Marcus Miller, Christian Miyamoto, Michael Odle, Ethan Osnes, Kyle Peterson, Brady Rosenblad, Caleb Schwartzkopf, Gilbert Seck, Jerome Seck, Christopher Simpson, Matthew Walsh and Nicholas Wilkinson.
Boy Scouts is a program that mentors young men in learning life skills and becoming leaders that will influence our community, our nation, and our world in the future.
The Boy Scout office is North Platte has moved to 503 East 4th St, from it’s former location on South U.S. Highway 83.
The office is open from 9-6 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
District Chairman Betty Van Boening noted that 2012 was a rebuilding year for the Boy Scouts due to the loss of a district executive director, who they are looking to replace.
