Sen. Mike Johanns will be in North Platte Tuesday as he visits community colleges on a swing around the state. Johanns will be at the new health and sciences building at North Platte Community College from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19. The public is welcome. Congress is in recess for 10 days, despite the looming budget crisis in the face of automatic spending cuts. Also, the nomination of a U.S. Secretary of Defense is on hold. After Johanns leaves North Platte Tuesday, he will stop briefly in Ogallala, then honor firefighters in Halsey as he heads back east. His public appearances:
