Tracy Black, 53, of Evanston, Wyo., was convicted Monday of attempted robbery of a bank in Wallace in August. In a plea bargain, prosecutors said they have agreed to 1½-3 year prison term. Black is scheduled to be officially sentenced on March 25. He remains in the Lincoln County Jail. Black drove a getaway pickup after his accomplice Drew Steier entered the Farmer’s State Bank in Wallace on Aug. 13 with a gun, which later turned out to be a BB gun. Steier allegedly waved the gun around in the bank, demanding money, but left empty handed after tellers told him the money was locked up and they could not get to it, according to reports from the scene. The two men were caught about an hour later traveling on Nebraska Highway 61, about a mile north of Imperial, some 50 miles from Wallace. Steier, 19, remains in jail on a $125,000 bond awaiting a hearing in district court.
