A semi-truck loaded with machinery got hung up at 8:40 a.m. Monday at the Hershey main street railroad crossing, stopping trains for more than an hour. The truck hit high-center on one set of tracks, Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis said. A witness said it looked like a slab of concrete along the rails came loose and lodged in the bottom of the trailer. All three sets of tracks were closed for more than an hour. At 9:45 a.m., two sets of tracks opened while inspectors checked for other damage to the third set of rails and began to make repairs. The accident delayed at least five trains from their normal trips into and out of Bailey Yard in North Platte, Davis said. As of 2 p.m., the damaged track in Hershey was still under repair.
