Western Nebraska poolplayers and fans were recently treated to an exhibition in North Platte by world famous billiards superstar and Hall of Famer Mike Massey. Massey appeared at the Eagles Club in North Platte on Thursday, Aug. 2. The show was free of charge and open to the public, courtesy of the APA Pool League. Massey also performed at Overtime in McCook the day before. During the exhibitions, he performed a wide variety of trick shots, played some challenge matches with a few fans and signed autographs. The APA sold raffle tickets for a variety of autographed cue sticks as well as tee-shirts, with all collected money going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. When all was said and done, $1,207 was raised for the cause. Massey is widely considered to be the world's best trick shot artist, earning a prestigious spot in the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame in 2005. The five-time ESPN Trick Shot Magic Champion has appeared in five movies and performed trick shot exhibitions in more than 40 countries. Massey has also won pro tournaments worldwide in a variety of formats including trick shots, 8-Ball, 9-Ball and straight pool. He was voted best in history of trick shots by Billiards Digest, organizers said.
