Sophie

On behalf of Sophie the Wheaten, Larry and myself, we want to give a big thank you to all of the people who helped us in the recovery and return of our little Sophie.

Over an eight-day period, many people stepped up to help us search for her whether it was walking through the ditches, fields and wetlands, walking or driving the streets, hanging posters, networking, contacting media, talking with friends, family, neighbors or strangers, giving us strength and encouragement when we didn’t have it, or hoping and praying for her return.

Everyone’s efforts played a big role in Sophie’s return.

We would like to give a big thank you to Paul Chilcott for being the individual who finally found Sophie. We would like to thank the employees of the waste water treatment facility: Jason Lashley, Ben Carson, Tyson Geisler, Eric Farritor, Douge Meyer and especially Tom Carson who gave up his holiday for us to search and placing food out hoping to entice Sophie out of hiding.

We would like to thank Alma and Kent Knoll of Midwest Wheaten Rescue and Chuck and Susie Lang for being emotionally supportive from a distance and helping with the creation of a reward, Laura Honeywell for taking on media releases, Cindy Lovette, Hanna Barner and Kathy Marquette for helping hang signs, Garrett Johnson for loaning spotlights, the local radio stations for posting on their websites and facebook pages and for George Lauby of the North Platte Bulletin for writing an article to help bring awareness to Sophie’s disappearance.

We would also like to thank Veronica, Rashawn, Ryece, and Rianica Bryant for making Sophie a welcome home basket and to Linda Shea for not only helping us search, but also taking care of Sophie’s vet bill.

We would like to thank the following people for taking time out of their week to search for Sophie whether it was by vehicle, foot, or wading through the ditches and wetlands: Brock & Lauressa Swedberg, Dianne Morales, Jim & Dorothy Praster, Jimmy Praster, Brian Praster, Jenn Porter, Joni Matson, Bob & Jo Mayber, Pat Dannatt, Mike Gage and beagles G Baby & Junior, Cole & Emma Lewis, Marilee Hyde and grandsons, Vicky & Mathew Woodward, Kristy Robinson, Tamela Mahloch, David Boettcher, Jeff Johnson, Sally & Ally, Randy Miles and family, and the Marshall Clan - Stephan, Melanie, McKenzie, Colton, Gaige, McKenna, Ethan & Ashton.

We would also like to take the time to thank anyone else who may have gone out looking for Sophie without us knowing or that we may have forgotten.

Finally, we would like to give a big thank you to Dr. Susan Sjecklocha and her staff for the hard work they put in taking hundreds of ticks off of Sophie, combing out all the debris and bathing her to make her soft and pretty for her return home.

We learned over the past week that there are a lot of awesome people in our town with big hearts. It truly took a community coming together to make sure our little girl came home safely. And with that, we are forever grateful.

Thanks.

Larry & Amanda Marquette, North Platte
