Uncertainty caused by overregulation is often said to be a major contributor to the sluggish national economy, with unemployment above 8 percent for 39 months.

Smith's website can be viewed here: http://adriansmith.house.gov/Regulations.

“The reams of red tape being handed down from Washington are creating a chilling effect on our country’s economic recovery,” Smith said. “I’ll take experiences and advice to Washington and work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to stop excessive regulation. Failure to do so will result in lasting damage to our country, and ultimately all Americans will pay the price.”

Smith said the Obama administration has proposed 3,118 regulations, 167 of which would have an estimated economic impact of $100 million or greater.

Smith supports regulatory reform legislation including the REINS Act and the Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act.
