Ben Sukraw threw a complete game shutout on Tuesday for the North Platte First National Bank Seniors in their 4-0 win over McCook at Bill Wood Field. Seniors coach Rick Ostergard said that Sukraw came up big because the First Nationals didn't have a great hitting night and they committed several miscues on the basepaths. "Well, it's a win," said Ostergard. "We didn't hit the ball well and we had some baserunning errors. But Ben pitched really well. He didn't walk any batters. I'd give him a B-plus or an A-minus." North Platte (2-1) scored the first run with two outs in the second inning when Kade Folchert hit a double to right field. The score remained 1-0 until Folchert's next at-bat. In the fourth inning, Folchert laid down a well-placed sacrifice bunt on the first base side to score the next run. Then on the next play, Jared Webster brought in another run by hitting a two-out single into left field. The First Nationals got another run in the fifth to give Sukraw some more cushion. But Sukraw had little trouble finishing off McCook in the last few innings. "He threw strikes," Ostergard said. "He didn't walk one guy and he located pitches. He finished the game, which was big, because we've got five games coming up and we didn't want to have to use anyone else."
