The North Platte animal shelter will hold an open house Thursday to demonstrate a newly annexed quarantine area for new dogs. The tour is from 11 a.m.-noon. The quarantine area is a receiving area for new dogs, so they can be assessed for injuries or illness before being put with the rest of the animals in the shelter, police spokesman Troy Erickson said. Once in operation, the quarantine area will be off-limits to the public, but Paws-itive Partners invites the public to take a look at the new addition before then. The shelter is at 1402 N. Sycamore.
