People that are experiencing – or who have experienced – domestic violence or sexual assault will have services easily accessible to them at the “One Door-One Stop” Center on Friday, May 11. Through a collaborative effort, community agencies will be on hand at one location at one time to help a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault. A person needing assistance can come into the center, meet an advocate who will help her/him assess their situation and needs and then immediately meet with an agency representative at the center. Victims of domestic violence and sexual assault will be able to obtain legal advice, advocacy, crisis counseling, referrals, assistance with protection order applications, apply for economic assistance, meet with a law enforcement officer, a prosecutor and/or probation officer, plan safety and more. Some of the agencies who will have a representative on hand are: the Rape/Domestic Abuse Program, Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Nebraska Legal Aid, Lincoln County Attorney’s Office, Lincoln County Victim Witness Unit, Region II Human Services, District 11 Probation, Law Enforcement, Community Domestic Violence Intervention Program and more as needed. The One Door-One Stop Center is open on the second Friday of each month from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CDT at 2700 W. Philip in North Platte. Free childcare is available on site. All services are free and confidential and no appointment is needed. For more information about the One Door ~ One Stop Center, call (308) 534-5879 or (308) 532-0624.
