Mail: No cell phone tower at 4th and WillowTell North Platte what you think

I want to write to let everyone know about a proposed 100-foot cell phone tower Viaero Wireless wants to build on an empty lot at the corner of Fourth and Willow streets.

We believe this is an inappropriate place for such a tall structure. Fourth and Willow is a very prominent intersection with a lot of traffic. This would make our neighborhood, and community, look very tacky.

There are many other areas in town that would be more appropriate. It is in the middle of an area of mixed residential housing and some light retail shops -- a 100-foot tower would stick out like a sore thumb.

The planning commission voted this down unanimously with one abstention last week, and sent their recommendation to the city council. If this concerns you, please come to the city council meeting Tuesday May 1 at 7:30 p.m. and let them know your opinion. We can use all the help we can get to make sure this monstrosity is not built.
