A 20-year-old Paxton woman died Tuesday in a motorcycle wreck near Sutherland. Rhiannon Peak and her father Vance Peak, 52, were riding a motorcycle Tuesday afternoon on Prairie Trace Road, about 10 miles north of Sutherland. Vance apparently lost control of the motorcycle while turning a curve on the asphalt, according to an accident reconstructionist for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The bike slid off the road, into a ditch and tumbled, ejecting both Rhiannon and Vance, a sheriff's spokesman said. Sheriff’s deputies arrived at 4:51 p.m. Rhiannon and Vance were each hospitalized for serious injuries, according to a sheriff”s spokesman. Rhiannon was air-lifted to Great Plains Regional Medical Center by Midwest Med-Air and died while being treated for the injuries. Vance was taken there by ambulance to and is in a stable condition, the spokesman said. The sheriff’s spokesman said both riders were wearing helmets. The investigation is ongoing. Peak graduated from Paxton High School in 2010, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Peak later attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln, where she was on the basketball team.
