Around 8:19 a.m. April 5, a trooper stopped an eastbound 2012 Chevy Traverse for speeding near the Waverly exit on I-80, Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins said.

An NSP canine sensed the odor of drugs coming from the rear of the vehicle, Collins said. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 62.4 pounds of marijuana in two duffle bags in the cargo area of the SUV.

The driver of the vehicle, Sean Cassidy, 46, of Laytonville, Calif. and a passenger in the vehicle James Morton, 52, of Woodland, Calif. were both lodged in the Lancaster County Jail each on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
