BOISE-North Platte native Nathan Enderle passed the Idaho Vandals down the field in the last minute of the Roady's Humanitarian Bowl on Wednesday to defeat Bowling Green, 43-42. Enderle is the quarterback for the Vandals, a team that rose to national prominence this season as Enderle completed nearly 60 percent of his passes. He is a 2006 graduate of North Platte High School. In the waning minutes of the offensive showdown Wednesday between two of the country's best offenses, it looked like Bowling Green was going to come away with the win. Bowling quarterback Tyler Sheehan threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Freddie Barnes to put the Falcons up 42-35 with just 32 seconds left. But on the first play following the kickoff, Enderle completed a 50-yard pass to Preston Davis that put Idaho at the Bowling Green 16. Then Enderle threw to Max Komar, who made a sliding catch in the end zone for the touchdown with only four seconds left. Instead of kicking a one-point coversion and going to overtime, Vandal coach Robb Akey opted to go for the two-point conversion to win the game. Enderle again came up big when he found Davis in the back of the end zone to seal the win for Idaho. Enderle, the North Platte Bulldogs' all-time leading passer, completed 15 of 28 passes for 240 yards and had four touchdown passes in the Humanitarian Bowl. Idaho finishes the year at 8-5 in Enderle's third year as the starting quarterback. Next year will be Enderle's senior year and on Sept. 11, he will return to his homestate to lead the Vandals against Nebraska at Memorial Stadium.
