Oh my God You've got to be kidding me. Only in North Platte does someone report something like this. I can't believe they would really call the police for something so silly |

Jeez..Get a grip npscout. This article was meant to be funny! I just feel sorry for the kid this happened to. Now because of an overbearing parent, he probably has to put up with MORE bullying, and thats when we need to be worried as citizens and parents. |

EXTREMIST...Thank goodness for your post. Kids are kids. If this was an actual assault or worse than we wouldn't even be reading about it. We'd see him/her in the system. But, back and forth teasing and poking fun at, hasn't anyone out there ever had one?? there NOT that big of a deal. Now as far as WASTING the NPPD's time, hum, I think they could have been doing something a little bit more important than stepping in and having to be the "father" figure in this case. The respect issue is a whole different ball game. Although, maybe someone needs to put a thong on this kid so that they see what some women put up with :) |

Interesting points. It could be argued that every wedgie type call that the police get takes away from real police work. But it could also be argued that there was a fair amount of bullying going on that required police intervention that day too. I agree that the police did the right thing. |

According to the above story - "The police spokesman said they are ever vigilant". Ever vigilant by ever lovin', hairy, pimply behind! If they were such then they would have stoppped the meth lab on N. Jackson before a fire ever happened! Must have been more involved in 'wedgie patrol' at the time. |

Some of you folks are taking this waaaay too seriously. It's not the police departments fault here. The police are obligated to respond to evrey call they get, so you would be pissed off if they had ignored the wedgie incident. And it isn't that the kids are bad or disrespectful either, they're just kids and picking on eachother is what they do. The wedgie giver has probably gotten his fair share of teasing from the wedgie recipient. The person to blame here is the father that called the police. That was kind of a waste of law enforcement resources, and if that guy isn't man enough to walk to the neighbors house and discuss the situation with the other kids dad, then he probably isn't capable of raising a family (unless his wife "wears the pants" in the house). |

peace--thank you for your correction; not painting them all with the same brush...you're entitled to your opinion, like anyone else, but generalizations tend to do more harm than good...as i'm sure you are aware. as for the 'bully' that gave the wedgie, i'm going to venture a guess that his lesson has been learned.... |

And I will correct myself. Some of the cops in this town are decent and respectful. But others are not. I will refrain from siting any incidents specifically. |

No dear, I'm not a bully. I was not the one giving the wedgie. That person was the one being a bully. I'm just a reader with an opinion based on past and present life experiences - just like you. Have a nice day Jolee. |

peace---how did you get from reading a silly story about a wedgie to calling the cops in this town a "JOKE" ??? that's a stretch, if i've EVER seen one......it's a funny story, and the cops really had nothing to do with any of it...other than being called by the dad
.....are you just looking to be a bully? |

bluemoon, i hear what you are saying, but where do we draw the line. It's like you are all saying that the one who was wrong was the victim, regardless of the degree of the incident. No one likes getting a wedgie and the action should be reprimanded. If this is ok, then the action next time might be worse. Everyone thought that was FUNNY, so let's do something REALLY FUNNY next time. You are right, no one was severely injured... but it seems that no one defended the victim, regardless of how little the incident was. So, would you be ok if I came over to your house today and give you a wedgie? If so, I guess I'd be happy to make your day. You seem to think it's something people should enjoy. That's all I'm trying to say. |

Peace, you go so far over board on your reactions. My gawd, no one is talking about rape. There wasn't an ambulance called and they didn't have to use the "jaws of life" to remove the wedgie!!! I really think the boy will be fine!!!! |

Have you ever noticed that jokes are funny to everyone except the one being made fun of?
And, we, as a society, make jokes out of the worse incidents.
Human Nature? I guess.... |

It seems like children are not taught to behave and show respect. Children are taught to defend and fight back. That's the direction this world is going. And to the parent who reported this - I apologize on behalf of the City of North Platte that most people in the city are laughing at this matter. It only proves that society is going to continue to get worse. These idiots will still be laughing when someone kills their child or rapes their grandmother. Where do we draw the line on respect? So, does society expect your child to give the perpatrator a wedgie back? I'm sure North Platte will still be laughing. The cops in this town are a JOKE. Good Luck. |

this is hilarious.
What is not funny is the fact that the parents called the police. these children will never learn how to settle problems on their own if the parents continually step in for them. My son has had to deal with a bully at school since kind. We would speak with the school and keep tabs on the goings on. This last year he has had a black eye ( from a thrown rock) and bruises from pinches. We did not call the police, we called the childs parents. My son is learning how to deal with this in a "grown up" manner without overreacting.
I will say, wedgies occur in our home on a weekly basis, raising three boys it is inevitable, wondering now if i am handling it the correct way, with time outs and quiet time? Or should i contact NPPD? |

An ancient Persian wedgie joke c.350 BC goes something like this: A man comes back from the marketplace with 2 black eyes. His wife asks what happened. He says “It was crowded and a fat lady on line in front of me had part of her robe wedged in her buttocks. To be polite I tryed to pluck it out. Then she hit me.” The wife asks how did he get the 2nd blackeye. The man says “Since she was upset I then tryed to put it back the way she had it.” This joke was documented authentic over the years by such luminaries as Bosworth and Samuel Peeyps. Clearly the noble wedgie is part of our history and humanity. (From the web) |

You're right, the wedgies could cause damage especially when approaching the atomic level. Why can't kids just stick with swirlys and titty twisters? |

I agree with the silliness to this situation. As a teacher though, I have known of instanses where wedgies caused some pretty serious injury to students. Most wedgies are just in good fun but, some people can get carried away with them and actually hurt someone else. |
