Idonna May McMains, 84, of North Platte passed away at her home on March 3, 2018. She was born in Frontier County, NE on April 18, 1933 to Hazel Harold “Red” and Minnie May (Blake) Howell.
Idonna attended school in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1952.
On July 31, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald D. McMains. Idonna managed the Old Home Bread Store for over 27 years in McCook. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of McCook.
Idonna and Donald moved to North Platte three years ago to be close to family.
In North Platte, she became a member of the Cross of Christ Church. She was an avid reader of the Bible.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Tim McMains in 1993; brother, Garrell “Red” and wife Frances Howell; step-mother, Golda Howell, and step-father, Webb Doyle.
Idonna is survived by her husband Donald of North Platte; daughter, Sherry Steinke of North Platte; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Ardell Krizek of North Platte; brother, Harold and wife, Kathy Howell, of Hastings, NE; half-brother, Marvin and Marlene Howell of Kennewick, WA; step-brother, Jerry Ross of Ontario, OR.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in McCook with Pastor Dennis Leitner officiating.
Memorials may be addressed to the Cross of Christ Church in North Platte.
