On Wednesday April 18, the Switchyard Pub and Grill is donating a portion of their evening profits to Operation Christmas Card.

The effort is the idea of three boys — Joshua Roebuck, Tucker Houseman and Raven Davis — who are organizing the fundraiser as a High Ability Learner project through Lincoln Elementary schools. The boys are 10 years old.

The hours are from 5-10 p.m. at the restaurant. The boys will be there from 5-8 p.m. to help, Operation Christmas Card organizer Char Merrill-Swalberg said.

At Christmas, the operation sent more than 160 care packages and 3,000 Christmas cards to overseas troops in an all-volunteer effort.

The donations were enough to pay the cost ($17) of shipping a box to all the soldiers and sailors on the Christmas Card list.

Businesses as well as individuals offered to contribute – including Nebraskaland National Bank, Modern Tire Pros, Super Suds Car Wash, Arby’s, Sutherland FFA, St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mullen, Domino’s Pizza, Auto One, and many more.
