Despite high temperatures and bright sunshine, a large crowd lined the streets of Sutherland Wednesday to watch the village’s annual July 4th parade.

This year’s theme was “Nebraska –150 years of the good life.” The grand marshals were Gene and Linda Tacey.

As Old Glory passed by at the start of the parade, people stood, removed hats and placed over their hands over their hearts in honor of our independence.

Each entry received cheers, applause, whistles and shouts as they traveled the route. Floats that sprayed water on spectators were especially appreciated on the hot afternoon.

The two-day Sutherland celebration ended Wednesday night with the second performance of the 78th annual rodeo followed by live entertainment at the Longhorn Bar.
