Carmen L. Gonzales, 86, of North Platte passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Linden Court.
Carmen was born on Feb. 29, 1932 in Wellington, Kan. to Herman and Anastacia (Landeros) Caudillo. She attended school up to the fifth grade and worked with her family in the beet and sugar fields.
She worked at TRW in Ogallala and then worked as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn, St. Mary’s Hospital and Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
On May 27, 1969, she married Andrew C. Gonzales in Sidney.
She enjoyed embroidering dishtowels, decorating her kitchen with roosters, and watching her Novela’s and Husker football. She loved spending time with her family, and cooking for them, especially at summer barbeques.
She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Carmen is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Carlos) Vasquez of North Platte; grandchildren, Leannah and Sierrah Vasquez of North Platte; siblings, Shirley Garcia of Commerce City, Colo., Jenny Lopez of North Platte, Herman Caudillo of Northglenn, Colo., Manuel (Patti) Caudillo of North Platte; stepdaughters, Virginia Sanchez of Grand Island, Delores (Mike) Casillas of North Platte, and Dorothy (Carlos) Carmona of Sutherland; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew; son, Jimmy; stepson, Andrew Jr.; and siblings, John, Frank, Isaac, Tony, Hoover, Nellie, and Lupe.
Christian Wake Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Nash as celebrant. Burial will follow at North Platte Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
