North Platte St. Pat’s began the postseason on Tuesday by blowing out Perkins County 54-15 in the subdistrict semifinals at Hershey.

The Lady Irish (20-3) will play Sutherland (12-9) for the C2-11 subdistrict championship on Thursday.

“I thought the girls came out well,” St. Pat’s coach Nathan Stienike said. “After our last loss against Hershey, they bounced back. They put a good first half together. Defensively, we were very active, we got out in transition and got some easy buckets.”

Abbi Allberry, Kaleigh Kummer and Hayley Homan scored the first three baskets for the Irish. Then Homan drove along the baseline for a layup to make it 8-0 a little under halfway through the first quarter.

Allberry then made one of two from the free throw line after being fouled. On the one she missed, Jocylin Sellers got the offensive rebound and she passed it to Homan for an open three to put the margin into double figures at 12-0.

Calli Groseth got a layup off an inbound pass before Homan finished the first quarter with two free throws and another layup.

With the score 18-0, Perkins County (2-17) got on the board when Maggie Earl made a free throw to open the second quarter. But there was nothing the Lady Plainsmen could do to stop the Lady Irish and it was 41-5 at halftime.

St. Pat’s played their reserves for most of the second half before advancing to the subdistrict finals, where they will see Sutherland, a team they defeated 53-29 in the second game of the season back on Dec. 2.
